Starting this issue Love City will be publishing weekly love letters. We want to tell a little about Love City, let you know what's been happening, what's coming up, how you can get involved and spotlight different areas of Love City. Keep reading to see how the story continues.
What's the Mission?
By loving people as they are, people can start to reach their true potential and the community can start to come together. Over the past six years, Love City has dedicated itself to loving our neighbors as they are with the goal of equipping them to do the work of developing community. Stay tuned for next week's love letter that will cover how Love City views it's programs in light of its mission.
Love City's Mission is to simply love our neighbors, creating a culture that empowers a movement of loving people as they are. Each verb in the mission statement builds on the other. As we start out loving our neighbors, we create a culture of loving, that then empowers a movement of loving. Loving people as they are is the how to of creating a culture and empowering a movement.
WHAT HAPPENED THIS WEEK?
This summer Love City transitioned its camps over to Mighty Oak Academy. Every week we have a different themed camp. This past week was Introduction to Sports camp. Each day was a different sport. The kids got to learn from experts in volleyball, field hockey, lacrosse, tennis, and baseball.
WHAT'S HAPPENING NEXT WEEK?
Mighty Oak Academy
Next week we begin our first two week camp Creative Arts Camp. We will be exploring all forms of art, from painting and physical art, to a visit by the Kentucky Shakespeare Company to learn about drama to learning different musical instruments. We're excited to have a little more extended time with our campers of two weeks instead of our usual one week.
Porkland BBQ
Porkland continues to serve the neighborhood fresh food at reasonable prices. This week we start our summer menu! Chili has been retired for the season and our popular tomato pie is back! Come in this week and try some!
Every week we'll spotlight a different area of Love City. This week we're excited to spotlight our newest sustainability driver at Love City - St C's Tees. St C's Tees officially launched this week as a full service custom screen printing shop. located in the back of the old St Cecilia Church building, it's set up to provide for any apparel printing needs. Our website is: www.stcstees.com
St C's Tees can help with desigining your graphics or take a grpahic you have and apply it directly to the apparel of your choice. All proceeds from St C's Tees go back into Love City and are used to help build community and fund Mighty Oak Academy.
Our Love City team member Alan Hoyle is in charge of St C's Tees and has developed expertise in single and multi-color apparel printing. The website is live and he is ready to take your inquiries about custom orders.
