Our third issue of the love story continues to share what's happening in and around Love City. Read on for your weekly dose of love!
What's in a building?
The Mackin building now houses the K-8th grade portion of Mighty Oak Academy, which is a spoke of Love City. The name on the building might say Mighty Oak Academy but it's still a part of Love City. Stay tuned toward the end of the summer as all the accent colors are painted on the building to make all those wonderful historical details stand out.
Now that we've covered the mission and the mission in action with our spokes on the wheel we'll cover the campuses of Love City. If you've been down to Love City recently you'll have noticed some big changes to the Mackin building. The sign out front now reads Mighty Oak Academy and the building has been painted a bright white.

This past week we completed week two of Creative Arts camp! Special thanks to Kentucky Shakespeare that came out to teach drama!

It's basketball camp week! Just like our camp waaay back in 2019, our kids are pumped to get their hoop on!

Get ready for some new menu items to head your way! We've also expanded our wings offering, now with wings $1 each minimum order 6 wings. Our Blackened fish salad is back on the menu as well as our side salad.
Every week we'll spotlight a different area of Love City. This week we're excited to spotlight Mighty Oak Academy. We've been talking a lot about our K-8 academy, but Mighty Oak will also have a preschool as well. Back in 2018 Love City started a pre-school in the Mackin building with 20 children. Toward the end of 2019 seeing the need to expand we purchased the old Grace Lutheran church at the corner of 26th and Bank to convert their 3 story sunday school building into a pre-school that could hold 100 kids.
COVID put a big wrench in the renovation plans. We were able to complete demo in spring of 2020 but are still working on raising funds and coordinating contractors to complete the build out. We're excited to be able to expand the preschool. Even with having to close in March of 2020, we now have some of our preschoolers that have signed up for kindergarten at Mighty Oak Academy.

- Guest volunteer teachers for our cheerleading and soccer camps
